Four terms, four meanings
Free means the free tier on the vendor's own pricing page: a recurring allowance that costs nothing. It is not a free trial, a promotional credit, or permission to use output commercially. Commercial rights are scored on their own line.
Song means any AI-generated musical track, sung or instrumental. Several ranked tools make instrumentals or background music, and the type column says which.
Background music means instrumental tracks that a vendor sells as background music, as Mubert and Soundraw do on their pages.
Ranked means ordered by the formula on the method page. It is not a user survey and it does not judge how the music sounds.
Scope: which tools a sung-song search reaches
A search for a free AI song generator usually means a tool that writes a complete song with sung
vocals and lyrics. This register does not filter on that intent. It ranks every tool that passes the
eligibility gate, so the top two positions go to instrumental and background-music tools. The table
shows what each type covers on the pages we checked.
| type on the register | tools | vocal features on the checked pages |
| Full songs with vocals | Suno, ElevenLabs Music | Stated. Suno lists Voices and Add vocals; ElevenLabs Music describes songs with lyrics. |
| Instrumental or background music | AIVA, Mubert, Soundraw | Not mentioned on the pricing page. |
| Text-to-audio with instrumental examples | Stable Audio | Example prompts are marked instrumental; no vocal feature is stated. |
Whether the register should be narrowed to tools with sung vocals is an open editorial decision.
Narrowing would change the order, so the current edition does not apply it. Until that decision is
made, the type line on each entry is the scope marker.
Other sites in this network use different scopes. bestaisonggenerator.com leaves royalty-free
background tools out of its scored range and places ElevenLabs Music third. Positions from different
sites are not comparable.
Which entry to read first
- You need sung vocals: start with Suno (No. 3) and ElevenLabs Music (No. 6), then read each commercial line before you publish.
- You need no card at sign-up: AIVA states that no credit card is required. The other checked pages say nothing on the point, so check the sign-up step yourself.
- You need a track longer than six minutes: Mubert's Creator tier is the one ranked tier whose page states a ceiling above six minutes, at 25 minutes.
- You plan to sell or release a track: no free plan in the register permits it. Read the paid licence and its exclusions on the same page. ElevenLabs Music excludes film, TV and Studio Games; Mubert's page bars sale and streaming.
The method page gives the rule behind each input, and the
versus and guide pages set the tools side by side with the fields quoted.
Not yet verified, so not ranked
These tools are not in the register because at least one input that carries weight, free-tier
quota, commercial terms or price, could not be read on an official page. Their verified facts
are shown below so you can check them yourself.
| tool | verified on official page | not yet verified |
| Udio | Free: 10 credits a day and 100 a month (no carry-over); three full-length (2:10) songs a day; no credit card required. Standard $10/mo, Pro $30/mo. | Commercial terms: the terms page redirected to a login screen on the check date. Download permission is not on the pricing page. |
| Mureka | Free entry point labelled "Try free now". | Free quota and terms text. Plan prices appear only in homepage copy, which we have not checked against a subscription page. |
| Google Flow Music | Labelled "Free to start" with "No credit card required". Former MusicFX address redirects here. | Daily credit amount and terms of service. |
| Tunee | "Start free" and "No credit card required" on the homepage. | Prices (not rendered on the pricing page). Commercial wording conflicts between the homepage and the FAQ. |
| Loudly | "Try all models free" with "no credit card required" on the homepage. | Pricing page returned not found. Commercial statements are vendor claims without terms text. |
| Beatoven.ai | FAQ licence wording: non-exclusive, perpetual, with Beatoven.ai keeping ownership and streaming platforms barred. | Pricing page returned not found. Free tier not listed on the homepage. |
| Boomy | Listed as a song generator with its own official site. | No free tier or price on the homepage. "Full commercial rights" is a vendor claim without terms text. |
Out of scope
MusicGen (AudioCraft): Open-source model that runs locally, not a hosted free tier. Code is MIT; the model weights are CC-BY-NC 4.0, which is non-commercial. It is listed here for transparency and is not
scored.
Evidence and method
Every scored input comes from a vendor's own pricing or terms page, checked on
2026-10-16. That makes each input a vendor's own statement, read against the
page, not an independent test. No third-party score, listening test, watermark check or user survey
enters the formula. Where a third-party review disagrees with a vendor page, the vendor page is used.
The method page gives the rules, the input table and a worked example.
Limits: prices are shown as the vendor displays them, and first-month promotions are excluded.
Where a page did not show annual prices or plan-level export formats, the input is set to the
lower value and the tool's row says so. Two of the top three are instrumental or background-music
tools, so read the type column before you choose.
FAQ
What is the best free AI song generator in 2026?
On bestfreeaisonggenerator.com's 2026.10 formula, AIVA scores highest at 76.7, followed by Mubert at 75.0. Both are instrumental or background-music tools, so the top two do not answer a search for a sung song. Suno is the highest-ranked tool here whose pricing page lists vocal features, at 45.0.
Does a free tier let me use the music commercially?
Not on the free plans in this run. Every ranked tool that has a free plan limits it to personal or non-commercial use on its checked page. Commercial rights start on paid tiers, and the conditions differ by vendor.
Why is ElevenLabs Music ranked last if it makes songs with vocals?
ElevenLabs Music is last of six, and the formula does not score vocals or song quality. It scored 42.0. Suno ties it on track length and export formats, both zero for both tools, so the 3-point gap to Suno comes from the price input: ElevenLabs Music's annual prices were not captured. The plan that includes WAV is also unconfirmed, which leaves its export score at zero.
How are the scores calculated?
The score is a weighted sum of five inputs: free-tier quota 35%, commercial terms 25%, longest published track 15%, export formats 15% and price transparency 10%. Each input is scored from 0 to 100 using the rules on the method page, so any score can be recomputed from the table there.
Declaration
Positions follow the published formula, and any change to a position is recorded as a dated revision on the
method page, which also holds the revision log. bestfreeaisonggenerator.com is part of a network of independent review publications. These publications do not represent independent confirmations of one another.
